Project
Goal: Design
an addition that allowed the expansion of the preexisting galley kitchen for
two cooks. In addition, create an island with multiple functions.
Results: Smooth,
dark wood cabinetry provides ample storage, and is the perfect canvas for color
accents like Burnt orange wall and the rustic color hardwood floors. The peninsula
between the kitchen and living room area provides a place for extra guests to
perch and a convenient sink-and-faucet work area. A variety of materials come
together in the kitchen, from stainless steel appliances to Santa Celica
Granite and butcher block countertops. The kitchen is organized into work
zones, with special areas for food prep serves double duty for both rolling out
dough for pies and a buffet for a family gathering. Situating the family room
adjacent to the kitchen infuses the entire space with natural light and allows
conversation to flow between the spaces.
